They follow the same fate.

Starting a big transformation from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance through impressionism to this day, the stable and rigid system has always been replaced by heretics, and a new paradigm has been built.

Then, the newborn art style like a system was also becoming rigid.

The system is to choose from.

Therefore, if people continue to make a choice according to the system, there will be no failures and their position will be safe.

However, as the times change, some day this conservative system stops working.

It's when powerful heretics in the "periphery" who have no status or loss cause a drastic change of the art style.

What happens if this applies to a person?

As we gain experience, our skills improve, and the stable and safe system will be created. As a result, our social status becomes stable. We can live in peace without having to venture to change the system. However, new revolutionary waves in the "periphery" are always prepared to disable our system.

Therefore, there is no way to survive unless we have a "peripheral" awareness and continue the high-risk adventures.

I think it was Picasso who tried to do it throughout his life.

He destroyed his own rigid and fixed system with the wild "periphery" built within him.

中国の歴史は、貧しく強い「周辺」の蛮族が中央の文化的には進んでいるが軟弱化した王朝を侵略征服し、自分たちが新しい王朝を建てる。すると中央の生活に甘んじた彼らは軍事訓練も怠り王朝は軟弱化していく。するとまた新たな貧しく強い「周辺」蛮族に王朝は取って代られる。これの繰り返しであったと言って良い。

それは政治経済の世界だけでなくアートの歴史も同様な運命を辿っている。中世からルネッサンスへの大きな変革に始まり、印象派を経て現代に至るまで常に硬直したシステムは周辺からの異端者達によって取って代られ、新しいパラダイムが築かれて来たじゃないか。

そしてその新しく生まれたシステムとしてのアート・スタイルもまた硬直化して行く。

システムとは選択していくことであり、そのシステムにしたがって選択を続けていれば失敗もなく、地位も安泰だ。ただ時代のほうが大きく変化していく中で、同じシステムが機能しなくなる時がくる。それは地位も失うものも無い「周辺」の勢いある異端者たちがアート革命を起こすからだ。

これを一人の人間で置き換えるとどうだろう？

経験を積むにしたがってスキルが向上していき、自分の安定した安全なシステムが出来てくる。

その結果、社会的にも安定する。もうそのシステムを変えるような冒険をしなくてもやっていける。しかしそのシステムを無効にする新しい変革は常に準備されつつあるのだ。

ならば、自分の中に常に「周辺」意識を持ち、無謀と思われる冒険を続けるしか生き延びていく道は無い。
