"Corona Boreal"

The natural composition of the characters in this painting, which apparently seems like a snapshot, however the true intention represented within the painting is hidden by the ability in a natural way of the painter's hand. First, connecting the hearts of the four characters centered by the Infanta Margarita (yellow auxiliary line), coincides with the positional relationship of the "Corona Boreal" constellation in astronomy. The most shining star among them is "pearl", also called as "Margarita". And, connecting the heads of the characters (excluding the King and Queen in the mirror), including the dog lying on the floor (red auxiliary line) matches the Capricorn symbol "♑”. In fact, Queen Marianna was Capricorn, born on December 23. Furthermore, the king and queen in the mirror are located in the center of the perfect circle made by the symbol. In other words, the true hidden intention of Las Meninas was the magical representation that wanted a perfect prosperity of the monarchy with the Queen Marianna of Austria and her only daughter, at that time heir to the coronal, the Infanta Margarita.

外見は真意を隠す。 ベラスケスのラス・メニーナスはベラスケスのアトリエを突然訪れたフェリペ4世とマリアナ王妃に、そこに居合わせたマルガリータ王女や侍女たちの驚く場面をスナップ写真のごとく、瞬間的に切り取って、写し描いている。

勿論王の注文で描いたのだろうが、所謂オフィシャルな型どおりの肖像画と違って、ベラスケスの自由で見たままの情景を無作為そのまま描いた、正に写真の先駆となる画期的な素晴らしい絵だと信じていた。 人は信じている所までしか見通すことは出来ない。

だが一見スナップ写真に見えるこの絵の自然な人物構成は、隠された意図が巧妙にしかし自然に描かれてあるのだ。

先ずマルガリータを中心とする4人の人物の心臓部を繋げると（黄色の補助線）、天文学で言う「かんむり座」の位置関係と一致する。 その「かんむり座」の星中で最も輝く星は「真珠」で、別名「マルガリータ」と呼ばれる。（「豚に真珠」という代わりに「豚にマルガリータ」という言い方はちゃんとスペイン語アカデミーで認められてある。）

また寝そべっている犬を含めた登場人物（鏡の中の国王夫妻は除く）の頭部を繋げると（赤色の補助線）なんと山羊座のシンボルマーク"♑"と一致する。 そしてマリアナ王妃こそ12月23日生まれの山羊座である。 さらに鏡の中の国王夫妻はきっちりとシンボルマークの作る円の真ん中に位置する。

つまりこの絵の隠された真意は、マリアナ妃の嫁いだ王家の円のような完全な繁栄とその一人娘で次期王位継承者マルガリータのつつがなき成長を願った所謂「魔方陣」であったのだ。 これらは決して図形上の偶然ではなく、当時最高レベルの蔵書を持っていて、歴史、神話、化学から天文学にまで通じていた当代有数の博学の士ベラスケスであってみれば不思議ではない。

だが、この隠された「魔方陣」王に心から忠誠を誓う画家の赤心からなのか？あるいはフェリペ4世から頼まれたのか？ そうだとしたら大変な難題をベラスケスはクリアーしたことになる。 魔方陣は悪魔に気づかれては効力を失う。 「秘して隠し通さねばならぬ。」

ベラスケスの胸に赤く輝く名誉あるサンチアゴ騎士団の紋章は、王室に飼われている道化師と同格の王室画家風情には決して与えられる筈もなかったにも拘らず、ベラスケスの死の前年に国王自らが描き入れたという。さもあらん。
